Web Developer Job Description: Shopify Web Developer (REST API and PHP)
As a Shopify Web Developer specializing in REST API and PHP, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining e-commerce websites on the Shopify platform. Your primary focus will be on implementing custom functionality, integrating with third-party systems, and ensuring a seamless user experience for both the front-end and back-end components of the website. You will collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop custom Shopify themes and templates using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring a responsive and visually appealing website design.
2. Implement custom functionality and features using Shopify’s Liquid templating language and JavaScript.
3. Integrate third-party systems and services, such as payment gateways, shipping providers, and CRM systems, using Shopify’s REST API and PHP.
4. Create and modify Shopify apps to extend the platform’s capabilities and meet client requirements.
5. Optimize website performance by analyzing and improving code efficiency, minimizing page load times, and optimizing database queries.
6. Collaborate with designers to ensure a consistent and user-friendly interface design that aligns with the client’s branding and requirements.
7. Work closely with project managers to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables, and provide regular updates on progress.
8. Troubleshoot and debug issues with existing websites, plugins, and integrations, and provide timely resolutions.
9. Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in e-commerce, web development, and Shopify-related technologies.
10. Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance to ensure websites are bug-free, optimized, and meet client specifications.
11. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and stakeholders during the development and post-launch phases of projects.
Requirements:
1. Strong experience in web development with a focus on Shopify, REST API, and PHP.
2. Proficiency in Shopify’s Liquid templating language and familiarity with Shopify’s architecture and best practices.
3. Solid understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
4. Experience integrating third-party systems and services using Shopify’s REST API and PHP.
5. Knowledge of PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony) and experience with custom PHP development.
6. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
7. Ability to write clean, modular, and efficient code with a strong emphasis on performance and scalability.
8. Experience with website optimization techniques, performance monitoring, and debugging tools.
9. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
10. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment.
11. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
12. A portfolio of previous Shopify projects or other relevant e-commerce websites is a plus.
